Slurry Infrastructure Grant Round 2

Round 2 of the Slurry Infrastructure Grant from Defra is now open for applications. This grant is available for farmers who produce slurry from pigs, dairy or beef cattle. It can be used to improve existing slurry storage and reduce air and water pollution. There are a few other requirements to be eligible for this grant, plus a 3-step application process, but here at ESUS Agri, we are here to help. Covering Devon, Somerset and surrounding areas, our expert farm consultants offer support based on your needs.

Who Can Apply?

Round 2 of the Slurry Infrastructure Grant is only open to invited applicants. This means that unless you used the online checker before 17th January 2024, you are not eligible for this grant. If you did use the checker and you were eligible, you can continue with your application. You are not automatically approved for the grant – you will need to complete the rest of the application and be approved.

How to Apply for the Slurry Infrastructure Grant Round 2

For the next step of the grant application, you will need to complete a slurry store location and design assessment form. You can see the full details of what is needed here. You will also need to work out your slur storage requirements – you can do this using the AHDB slurry wizard tool. The Rural Payments Agency (RPA) and Environment Agency will check that your project will meet slurry storage rules and regulations protecting groundwater to avoid the risk of pollution.

Step 3 of the Grant Application Process

Once the previous steps have been completed and your location and plans have been approved, the final step is submitting your full application. You will also need planning permission from your local authority to submit your full application. The deadline for full applications is 27th June 2025, so there is still some time, but a lot of information is required, so don’t delay. See the full list of the requirements here
